Josh, beautiful blog! Would you mind sharing the specs of the light dJ rig you just posted. I need a similar/identical setup for a gig that I've been asked to DJ in a month. Thanks!

Thanks Steven. The mixer/controller is a Vestax VCI-300 with Serato Itch; that with a Mac Air (and an external HD for music) fit into two fairly light bags. The VCI is a little under powered, so it should be run into another mixer or preamp, which venues I play already have. If they don’t, it’s worth bringing something like that, otherwise it’s hard to get loud with the VCI without distorting the signal.

I’ve been using this for smaller (non-club) gigs for the last couple years, and I’ve been pretty happy with it. I’ve also tried the Native Instruments controller for Traktor, which has a lot more features, but it’s also bulkier.
